WWD: WNBA’s New York Liberty now partners with M.M.LaFleur

As we’ve discussed here many times before, the growing bond between the worlds of sport and fashion is strengthening by the day. One New York fashion brand has decided it’s time for a WNBA team to take on an official fashion partner, much like many men’s professional sports entities already have (think MLB x Gucci or Bayern Munich x Hugo Boss). Going forward, M.M. LaFleur will outfit Liberty players, coaches and staff while also working with the team to host panels, networking events and more. Hopefully this partnership will forge a blueprint for countless other brands and organizations to follow.

ABC: First stadium built for professional women's sports team going up in Kansas City

Celebrity investors are backing women’s soccer in the United States with increasing frequency. Two such investors? Brittany and Patrick Mahomes, co-owners of the Kansas City Current and partially responsible for the investment currently building out the country’s first stadium specifically for women’s sports. The $120M KC Current Stadium will seat up to 11,500 fans and — according to Mayor Quinton Lucas — is expected to bring nearly $1B in economic growth to the area.
